Our History: 1982–Present

FontanaTouchlessFaucets® traces its roots to 1982, when the company began serving commercial, institutional, healthcare, transportation, and government projects throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region. As one of the early adopters of touchless and sensor-operated plumbing technologies, Fontana developed specialized expertise in commercial restroom solutions during the formative years of hands-free fixture innovation.

Operating from Northern Virginia, Fontana participated in a wide range of commercial and institutional projects throughout the region, supporting facilities including healthcare campuses, transportation hubs, educational institutions, government facilities, hospitality developments, and corporate headquarters. Representative projects from this period included Georgetown University Hospital, Navy Yard Metro Center, the Pentagon Remote Delivery Facility (RDF), Washington Gas Headquarters, Dulles Town Center, Crystal City Plaza, Washington Dulles International Airport, McKinley Technology High School renovations, Marriott Crystal City, and Hilton Springfield.

As demand for commercial fixture solutions expanded, the Fontana organization broadened its capabilities and, in 1991, launched FontanaShowers®, extending its reach into architectural, hospitality, commercial, and institutional fixture markets. This expansion enabled the company to support increasingly complex projects across the United States while maintaining its specialized expertise in touchless technologies.

In 1996, Fontana entered international markets, beginning a global growth phase that expanded operations across Europe, the Middle East, Canada, South America, and Asia. Today, FontanaTouchlessFaucets® and FontanaShowers® operate together as part of the Fontana family of brands, supporting airports, hospitals, universities, office towers, hotels, government facilities, and large-scale commercial developments worldwide.
